Roaring Girl Productions (RGP) is a creative media company working in performance, film, audio and text. They combine high-quality creative work with practical activism and is fronted by artist-activist Liz Crow.

We were originally approached in 2012 to redesign the RGP main website. The site became a streamlined portfolio of Liz Crow’s work, combining various different media. The result of being an all-encompassing design that exhibits and promotes her work in an accessible and aesthetically pleasing manner. Liz later approached us to work with her on producing a new live production piece.

To date we have worked with RGP on three major experience production projects, each having their own unique and varied challenges.

Bedding Out

Bedding Out represents one of the most diverse creative challenges Hatch & Twine has encountered. Our role was to provide project management and art direction for a campaign to raise awareness of the plight caused by the current welfare benefits overhaul in the UK. The project saw us manage a 48-hour round-the-clock live stream of a live performance, which saw Liz take to her bed.

The project received good media reception and was featured in multiple new outlets. We provided PR for the project and our portrait of Liz appeared in The Guardian and a number of other publications.

Figures

Following the success of Bedding Out, Roaring Girl Productions looked to us to manage and execute their latest project. Figures is a mass-sculptural performance that makes visible the human cost of austerity and urges action. Over the span of 18 months, 650 clay figures were mined, sculptured, exhibited, milled and scattered. Each figure represented a story from a corresponding UK constituency of someone affected by the austerity cuts imposed by the government. Working closely with Liz we managed the overall project, as well as providing web design and art direction.
